Red Velvet Valentines Day Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 1 package red velvet cake mix
  • - 1 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • - 2-3 cups all-purpose flour
  • - 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • - 1/4 cup melted butter
  • - 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • - 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • - Cream cheese for icing
  • - Unsalted butter for icing
  • - Powdered sugar for icing
  • - Vanilla extract for icing
  • - Milk for icing
  • - Red gel food coloring optional
  • - Sprinkles optional for decoration

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, active dry yeast, and 2 cups of all-purpose flour.
  • Slowly add the warm water and melted butter, mixing until well combined. Gradually add more flour as needed, just enough to form a loose ball of dough.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  • While the dough is rising, prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter in a small bowl until well combined. Set aside.
  • Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the melted butter over the rolled-out dough, followed by the cinnamon filling mixture.
  • Carefully roll the dough into a tight log, starting from one of the longer sides.
  • Once rolled, cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they're golden brown and cooked through.
  • While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by beating together the cream cheese, unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  • Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the cream cheese icing over the top.
  • If desired, add sprinkles for a festive touch. The icing melts into the rolls when applied hot, enhancing flavor absorption.
  • Extra Tips:
  • For the best results, make sure your warm water isn't too hot, as it can kill the yeast.
  • If you prefer a slightly richer dough, consider adding a bit more melted butter or using cream in the filling for added moisture.
  • Additionally, feel free to experiment with the icing consistency by adjusting the milk and powdered sugar to suit your taste.
  • Enjoy these delightful rolls fresh for the best flavor, and watch them disappear quickly!
